In the past few years the Linwood Cemetery has proudly made several improvements to our cemetery grounds, and the services we can provide to our customers.
IRON FENCE RESTORATION In 2005 the Linwood Cemetery Association was awarded a $45,000 grant form the DRA (Dubuque Racing Association) for the restoration of the Iron Fence, and private donors.. In the fall of 2005 Blake Metal Works removed the 100+ year old fence and began the restoration process. Today the fence is back in place, and looks as beautiful as the day it was first installed over 100 years ago. CHAIN LINK FENCE REPLACEMENT In 2006 the Linwood Cemetery Association replaced the chain link fence on it’s south property line, along Jefferson School. ABOVE GROUND COMMUNITY MAUSOLEUM At 9:00 a.m. on October 6, 2001 Linwood Cemetery broke ground for our beautiful 240 Crypt, 112 Niche Above Ground Community Mausoleum. President David Wm. Rusk welcomed everyone in attendance, followed by Charles D. Glab presenting the project overview. After kind words by Dubuque Mayor, Terry Duggan and the dedication of the grounds by Reverend Ken Bickel the ground was broke. Construction and landscaping began on our building, which is now open to the public. Picture from Ground Breaking and picture of building today. VETERAN SERENITY GARDEN In 2003 we opened our third Veteran Serenity Garden. Our newest Veteran Serenity Garden consists of 960 spaces. Our veteran program is sponsored strictly by the Cemetery Association. We receive no funds from the government. Picture of Veteran Serenity Garden used in Veteran Program information. |
